After-School Program at 100 Mile House Library
The 100 Mile House Library has an after-school program for children ages 5-12, happening weekly on Wednesdays from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM. This program includes stories, arts, crafts and other activities.
Daddy & Me
Daddy & Me is a monthly event that gives fathers a chance to spend time with their children in a relaxed, non-judgmental, and fun environment. At the event, fathers can connect with other fathers and access information on relevant services. Activities at Daddy & Me include assorted games, crafts, and toys. Storytime is a feature activity where children receive a free book to take home. The program is aimed at children ages 0-6, and normally takes place on the last Friday of the month.
Early Learning Family Drop-In
Taking place right here at the Early Years Centre, our Early Learning Family Drop-In is a safe, unstructured place for children and their families to play with toys, socialize, take part in arts and crafts, stories, and make new friends. Parents can enjoy a relaxed atmosphere where they can meet and network with other like-minded parents/caregivers. We have facilities for breast feeding in a quiet and comfortable area. Access to resources on infant and child development and South Cariboo Early Years programs/services is also available to parents.
Family Storytime takes place Tuesdays and Thursdays at the 100 Mile Library Branch. Parents may bring their children to this group event to enjoy stories read aloud by Library Staff.
Kindergym is open every Thursday morning from 9:45 – 11:45 in the 100 Mile House Community Hall. It operates on the same holiday schedule as the schools in our district and does not occur during summer, Christmas break or spring break.
It is a centrally located parent participation program highlighting active and gross motor playtime for children. The extended active play at Kindergym is the only service of its kind available to families in the 100 Mile House area. It is enjoyed by dozens of children and families each week and is especially important during the winter months. Kindergym is a time for a parent and child to spend time together. When children arrive, they are welcomed by a wide range of experiential opportunities including a large floor space for engaging in gross motor activities, a baby area, fine motor skills activities, snack table, arts and crafts table, and a reading corner.
A StrongStart Centre is a school-based, early learning parent participation program and provides a new gateway to lifelong learning. During normal school operation, StrongStart happens Monday through Friday at 100 Mile Elementary, and on various days at other elementary schools in School District No. 27. Please see the Event Calendar or the following Event Listings for schools and times.
