The South Cariboo Early Years Centre officially opened October 31st, 2014. It was one of the first nine Early Years Centres to open that year in British Columbia, made possible by the BC Early Years Strategy. This strategy was created by collaboration between the BC Government and grassroots organizations with a focus on improvement for services for children in their early years: the most crucial years in their development.
An Early Years Centre provides access to information, resources and programs for parents, caregivers, and expecting parents of children ages 0-6. Operating as an easy-to-use hub, an Early Years Centre focuses on nurturing children and helping them develop to their best potential. The South Cariboo Early Years supports the local area by providing information, upcoming event dates, referrals and programs in their office as well as online with their website and android app.
A unique feature of the South Cariboo Early Years Centre is our Early Learning Family Drop-In program: weekdays from 9:00 AM until 2:00 PM, parents can bring their children to use our centre’s Early Learning Room— an educational, unstructured play room where children have access to themed stations and development-stimulating toys. It’s a safe and relaxed area that also has facilities for breast feeding. Parents and families also have access to resources on infant and child development.
